Amy Knapp Pettit

Amy was raised on a cow-calf operation in Langlois, Oregon and graduated from Oregon State University with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Business Management in 2003.

Amy started her service to the agriculture industry by working for the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service in Topeka, Kansas for two years right out of college. She then ventured to Alaska where she worked for the State Division of Agriculture for a decade. She led the Marketing & Development team, was a founding Board member of the Alaska Food Policy Council and sat on the North American Agricultural Marketing Officials Executive Board.

In 2015 Amy became the Executive Director at Alaska Farmland Trust, where she thrived in her role of permanently protecting valuable agricultural lands, promoting the industry across multiple platforms, and educating fellow Alaskans on the importance of their food system.

Amy was appointed to serve in the Biden-Harris Administration as the State Executive Director of the Alaska Farm Service Agency in 2022. Her combined experience in State and Federal Government, Non-Profit Management and industry leadership allowed her to expand outreach with Alaska Native and Indigenous Groups, build relationships with other lenders and strengthen the capacity of the USDA team.

In 2025 Amy joined the Wild Rivers Land Trust as their Executive Director. She is thrilled to bring her industry knowledge, enthusiastic approach and love of agriculture back to her home region. Amy’s most important title is Mom to her two amazing daughters. She enjoys cooking, live music and river adventures with her fiancé Jesse and seeks to balance it all by teaching and practicing yoga.
