Autumn is a time of year where the earth seems to slow down, breathe, and replenish itself before the transition into winter season. At Wild Rivers Land Trust, autumn is a time to reflect on our accomplishments so far, push to finish our goals, and make plans for the year ahead. Wild Rivers Land Trust is proud to announce Faith Neff is our 2026 Volunteer of the Year.
Faith came in as a new volunteer with WRLT this year, first stepping in to help at Run for the Rivers, our inaugural 5K and fun run at the Elk River. Faith helped runners stay on course at the event, and also served as the ‘tail person’ on her bicycle to make sure all of the runners completed the course safely.
Since then, Faith has participated in several weed pull events at the Nesika Beach Preserve. These volunteer events clear invasive species from the preserve and open up additional habitat for native species to grow and thrive. Faith also helped us set up the Wild Rivers Land Trust event booth during Coos Watershed Association’s Mayfly Festival.
Madeleine Vander Heyden is a recently retired professional with a long history with Wild Rivers Land Trust. She decided to strengthen her commitment to the organization by joining the board of directors in 2025.
